Taking pay-TV where it hasn’t been:
There used to be no professional pay-TV systems for medium and small operators– the 2nd tier. We have made one – Abel Quintic.
Track record of resilience and ability to manage piracy should it occur is seen by pay-TV distributors as insurance for their business. This insurance effect makes CAS price dynamics different from other markets: CAS prices don’t fall (much) with volume.
CAS vendors understandably need to ensure their security reputation. One precaution measure is to impose rigorous regulations for the integration and use of their CAS. These effects drive-up CAS costs and complexity to levels only quite large TV distributors can manage.
With Quintic our aim is to reach operators who otherwise would have struggled with the costs and complexity associated with offering compelling pay-TV services – taking pay-TV where it hasn’t been.
