Java Enterprise Architects/Developers
Abel's Quintic product comprises mainly a back-end system managing rights generation and content encryption, and SIM/UICC based security agents controlling if the user shall be granted access to the broadcast mobile TV services.
The Quintic back-end system receives requests for generating rights from CRM systems or directly from the mobile terminals. The Quintic system must on-line manage validation of the requests, perform payment clearing, generate the right and distribute it to the security agent via the mobile or the broadcast network. As pay-TV is a large scale consumer operation, the rights generation process must be designed to serve millions of users. The back-end system also interfaces with the broadcast transmission platform for management of the mobile TV content encryption.
The Abel back-end systems are based on Java SE 5/Java EE 5 (including Web Services and EJB) and Oracle databases for persistence.

Architects/Developers for SIMs, Smart Cards and Mobile Phones
Abel Quintic's security agents are typically residing in a SIM/UICC ("3G SIM") platform, and it communicates with the broadcast mobile TV- and 2.5/3G compatible handset.
The security agent receives rights and keys in encrypted messages from the back-end, and it determines based on its stored rights and keys if access shall be granted to the content the user wish to access. The security agent is typically a JavaCard applet, but it may also be a native C application.
